What version of Windows VISTA are you using?
It has been developped on RC1, and I haven't had any way to test it on other versions...

I'm running RC2 b. 5744. I'd give you more on the error, but that's all it says. The program never actually starts, it just goes straight to the error.

I think there has been a problem with the uninstaller...
Try to uninstall the version of MyExposé, kill all MyExposé / MyExposeLauncher process, delete the content of %ProgramFile%\Simon FERQUEL\MyExpose and reinstall it.

I cannot reproduce the crash... I am thinking about a VS 2005 redistribuable dll that I didn't include in the MSI...

Sweet, it works now. One problem with the zoom feature... when the windows are near the edge of the screen and you hover, the zoomed window goes off the edge of the screen.

Great tool. I'm running it on Vista RC2. However, there's a small glitch: Starting a remote desktop connection (fullscreen) triggers My Exposé. Same when I restore the window after minimzing it. Does not happen with other applications.

I just love your program, thank you!

It seems it has a small glitch though (I've not seen any comment about it+I am using build 5840): when no windows are opened - let's say after the boot, and you've closed the Welcome Center - and you trigger Exposé - yep, I often put the cursor in the corners :) - then Exposé get displayed (with the grayed out background) but of course, no window to click on and thus closing the Exposé mode. So basically, I use the task manager to kill MyExpose and then I restart it. I guess it should not be triggered when no window/task is active.

Anyway, bravo for the good job. ;)

Kashaar -> You can use the keyboard trigger (F9 by default) to hide MyExposé. This is a known bug, and it will be fixed when I have time.

Christian Pogea -> It is not as smooth as Flip3D, because I have no access to the same APIs. What does Flip3D is just manipulating the 3D Matrices of the windows. What I have to do is to register Live Thumbnails. These thumbnails are far less performant to manipulate.

Try minimizing all windows, and selecting a window which is not full screen (like an IM app). Doesn't it look weird how the minimized windows go to their "normal" location and then just disappear?

Perhaps expose should have minimized windows fly on/off screen?

Simon - similar issue (as mentined previously with minimized windows) exists with maximized windows. They animate to/from their "restored" size/position, rather than the maximized size/position.

Dans mon cas en mode multimoniteur c'est un peu bizarre d'avoir fenetre à gauche de l'écran de gauche et une autre fenetre directement en dessous de la 1ere à l'opposé. C'est louche

Just a suggestion, if you use the desktop windows thumbnail, you'll be able to make it look as though the windows actually move, now just overlay the real windows.

Andre -> I am already using Windows thumbnails. Thumbnails are live "copies" of the actual Windows. There is a trick to do what you want, but I prefer to see real windows behind Exposé.

I love this application! I can't wait for a final release!

Some items you may want to look at:

-Sometimes windows switch places if you hover over them too quickly
-Some windows become way too small to tell what they are while others remain large
-A label over the window would be very useful (how Expose in OS X works)
-A way to close Expose if you trigger the same key/movement/voice you used to enable it (OS X behavior)
-Clicking in an empty area when Expose is active should close Expose and restore the windows to where they originally were (OS X behavior)
-Change the Arrow to the Hand cursor when over a window in Expose (similiar to hyperlinks on a website (OS X behavior))

Is there a mailing list or way I can quickly check when the binary has been updated?

I forgot to mention but Expose should close if the 3D window view (Windows Key + Tab) is enabled. Right now, if Expose is open and you hit the Windows Key + Tab, it'll hide it and show the windows 3D window selector. When you select a window, Expose pops back up.

Wouldn't it be pretty simple (and not "tricky" to get a snapshot of the desktop window and place it below your other snapshots.

Hello, i found a small hitch - when I have no application open and i accidentally trigger MyExpose, it runs but there is no way to exit it :(.
I have an idea - could it be that when user clicks on background, expose disappears (ie the window that had focus before gains it again)? And maybe dont open expose at all when there are no windows to display...

Je viens d'essayer My Exposé sur une config multi écran, ça pose quelques problèmes.

En configuration standard (écran 1 à gauche, écran 2 à droite), l'affichage My Exposé s'étale sur les deux écrans mais se comporte comme s'il était sur un seul écran au niveau du curseur (ie une fenêtre affichée au milieu de la zone My Exposé, donc à cheval sur les deux écrans sera activée quand le curseur passera au milieu de l'écran 1).

En configuration inversée (écran 1 à droite, écran 2 à gauche), c'est pire. La zone d'exposé a la taille des deux écrans mais ce qui devrait s'afficher sur celui de droite s'affiche sur celui de gauche, et tout ce qui devrait s'afficher sur celui de gauche disparait en dehors de la zone d'affichage. Le comportement du curseur est le même qu'en config standard.

Make the "Configure..." window more...er....configurable :P. For example make it minimize everything to show desktop and then when I select the window I want make it all come back which is what the default option is in OSX.

I detected a flaw. If you use sensible corner you should be able to go back to normal mode by using sensible corner again. Currently you have to focus a window to go back. Atleast that is a feature on OSX (that I use alot just to get overview and not change focus).

Great Work! I hope that Ms will document DWM througly to help generous people like you. My Exposé is slow still... but with better DWM support and better GFX card driver support I am sure it will become much faster.

I would like to take the opportunity to point out a flaw that almost ALL Windows GUI coders forget. There has to be a catch or function that disables the "Sensible Corner" function when the screen is occupied in fullscreenmode.

For example when you play a game or a movie in fullscreen sensible corner could end in disaster ;)

I love the app and the idea. It doesn't work quite right on dual monitors, however. Here's what I'm seeing:

I have dual monitors, with the right-side monitor as the primary. When I run Expose, not all of the application windows show up on screen, and some show only partially. The mouse isn't effective over the windows on the left side, but when I roll over the right-side monitor, I can get the Expose windows to respond.

I hope that helps in some way. :)

Only complaint is the same as above. If there are no open apps and Expose runs, then you cannot exit out (you have to kill the process).

Do you think sooner or later to implement also the other functions of the original Apple Exposè?
The original can also put in order all the windows of a specific application, for example Photoshop and permit also to choose to return to the desktop, minimizing all the windows, just like Flip or Flip 3D and all this 3 primary functions acn be assigned to specific corners of the monitor or bindend (default on OS X are F9, F10 and F11).
I would appreciate really much a complete version of the original exposè on Vista

Awesome program. I'm using the Vista RTM and just installed a second monitor. The program works awesomely on one monitor, but the dual display completely destroys the functionality. My mouse cursor location doesn't activate the windows properly.

Another thing. If My Expose is activated before any windows are open, it's difficult to quit out of.

I'd like to see an option to "disable animations" almost completely, if there isn't a way to speed them up then unfortunately they just look clunky.

Aside from that, great app.

hey i don seem to find a way to install this....there is a file in MyExposeSetup...called MyExposeSetup.vdproj but its not openin i even installed the vcredist_x86 (C++ thing)...

When you only have one or two programs open, hovering on them makes them HUGH and distorts how the program looks. It should be that no program will ever magnify to larger than it actually is represented on the desktop. Another thing I'd like to see, like Flip3D, is not to have the background be the current desktop faded, but JUST the desktop. I think it would look nicer that way, and also make it less awkward for minimized apps to just show up. Features others mentioned that would be nice: getting the hand instead of arrow when you hover over a window, app titles when you hover, and the ability to ESC off or click a non-program to restore as well. Either way, GREAT WORK! Can't wait for the next version.

Taylor's suggestions are KEY!!

Also, consider the way this similar program called Switcher @ http://insentient.net/ lets you configure animation and transition speed, and opacity. An option to disable zoom would also be a huge plus.

In this way, users who have beef with MyExpose's "performance" can adjust the variables and speed things up on their own.

The biggest thing I see that MyExpose has that Switcher doesn't, is multimon support. Nice work.

I didnt read all fo the feeds, but if you could start supporting dual screen modes, it would top off a fantastic program:

Needs 2 options when ran the first time:
1) Show all open programs on both screens
2) Show open programs for each screen individually

you could also make this a user input option, like hit F11 and all pop up on both screens, and F12 makes only the active programs on each screen pop up, let me know how development of this goes: aquaman960@aol.com
